The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) is a regional organisation established by the Governments and Administrations of the Pacific, mandated to promote cooperation in the Pacific region and provide assistance in order to protect and improve its environment and to ensure sustainable development for present and future generations. The head office is based in Apia, Samoa with about 100 staff. There is also a SPREP office in Fiji with four staff.

SPREP acts as a regional coordinating body for the implementation of the Regional Strategy on Shipping-related Introduced Marine Pests, endorsed by the Pacific Islands in 2006. SPREP also has that role in the GEF/IMO-UNDP Glofouling partnership project, which this project contributes to.

SPREP will participate in the advisory board of the PacMAN project as one of the key stakeholders and (i) will advise in the design of the monitoring plan as well as the decision- support tool and (ii) and help raise awareness of the outcomes and support the uptake of the services at local and regional level.
