The PacMAN project has developed a monitoring plan for invasive species that can provide an early warning system for invasive species in the Pacific Island states. eDNA analyses can be used to rapidly detect and discover the presence of unwanted organisms. After an initial survey to build baseline understanding and add local species to a DNA-database, the project will follow species assemblages on settlement plates and water samples in the Suva port.
